Lightweight Headphones – Best Headphones For Long Working Hours

December 7th, 2009 Freddy McCandless No comments

For most people who are interested in getting the best and highest sound quality out of their headphones, finding lightweight headphones can present a challenge. As little as a decade ago, headphones that were of good sound quality could be relatively heavy and sometimes even cumbersome. This is no longer the case.

Improvements made in both materials and the technology are now used in headphones to deliver quality audio input signal. Happily, these same improvements have also served to make many a pair of headphones lighter and less bulky in size. We’re not talking about those cheap airline headsets, but real headphones that are able to give to the listener a pleasurable experience. All come from a number of popular manufacturers, too.

So; what should a person be looking for in headphones, when weight and sound are a consideration along with avoiding the need to spend an arm and a leg to get it? Generally, the answer can be found on the Internet, though there are several general principles to keep in mind when looking for technology in a lightweight headphone package that could be bought by a customer.

What might come as a surprise to some people is that the lightest headphones are sometimes those which use wires to transport sound from the audio device to the headphones. The reason this is so is that certain wireless headset devices have one to several batteries in them, which can add bulk and weight. Wired headphones don’t suffer from this problem.

As with most electronic gear that needs to be light, the more money something costs, the lighter it can be. This is because expensive headphones will take advantage of higher quality and lighter weight materials and superior technology that delivers excellent sound quality without taking up too much space or increasing bulk by an appreciable amount.

Super-light headphones, though really light, might also be very cheap and poorly made, all while failing to create advertised sound quality. In this regard, make every attempt to locate a set of headphones that combine reduced weight and bulk with excellent sound at a nice price. However, if sound quality is paramount, expect to pay for such a thing. Most real audiophiles wouldn’t mind, to be honest.

At the end of the day, personal preference will drive what will and will not be acceptable as far as lightweight headphones. So take a bit of time to learn exactly what it is that’s needed and for what purpose. Then shop intelligently and find the kind of headset that works best for a given circumstance. Generally, though, good sound quality will not normally cost an arm and a leg.

Many people need lightweight headphones for sports like jogging, gym workouts and other physical activities.
